What is an Electricity Plan EFL?

The Electricity Facts Label (EFL) is the standard documentation for each Texas electricity plan. It holds all the details about an electricity plan. You will find all of the fine print that make up the electricity rate that is advertised for that plan in it.   You will find the average electricity rate you should expect to pay at 3 standard levels of monthly usage in Beaumont:  500kWh, 1000 kWh, and 2000 kWh hours.

In most cases, the EFL will spell out the TDU passthrough fees.  These are standard delivery fees that everyone is charged to have electricity delivered to their home.  These are usually, though not always broken out as separate items in the EFL.

Sometimes you will see things in the EFL that you don’t expect that could have an unexpected impact on the electricity rate you will pay.  For example, there may be a bill credit that applies after your usage exceeds 2000 kWh in a month.  This effectively drives down the average electricity rate you would pay at 2000 kWh. By contrast if, at the end of the month, you used only 1999 kWh your electricity bill could end up being much higher.

You will find other plan details in the EFL include cancelation fees and the percentage of the plan’s electricity that comes from renewable energy sources.

Always review the EFL before deciding on an electricity plan.
