Personally speaking, the most important thing to me in Huntington is my family. They/We have lived in the area for many generations, and we currently have four generations living there right now. So, to my family — Hello!

Huntington, Texas is a small city in Angelina County. Last checked it had a population of about 2,100, which means it is the 570th largest city in the state. Population growth has stayed rather stable for the past ten years. The city gets its name for one of the chairman of the Southern Pacific Railroad around the time the town was formed: Collis Potter Huntington. On the map it is located in the eastern part of the state close to the smaller cities of Lufkin, Hudson, and Pollok, among others. The nearest major cities are Tyler (85 miles) and Southeast Montgomery (87 miles). The cost of living in the city is cheaper than the national average because of housing prices. Crime is about average when compared to the rest of the state, and the climate is hot, humid, and prone to hurricanes given its relative closeness to the Gulf of Mexico.

Unemployment was at 6% according to recent data. The most common jobs, when ranked for the most frequent, are in Retail Trade, Administrative Positions, Manufacturing, Transportation & Warehousing, and Construction to name the top in order of frequency.

For educational attainment, the citizens of Huntington over the age of 25 years obtain a highschool diploma 79% of the time and a Bachelor’s degree around 7% of the time.
