Why You Need to Compare Waller Electricity Rates

Yes. Not only can you substantially lower your utility bills by shopping for electricity, but by not shopping for electricity, you are throwing money out the window.  If you have always been with the same electricity provider, or you haven’t shopped rates in a long time, there is a very good chance that every year you are unnecessarily giving hundreds of extra dollars to the power company.

On average, the difference between the highest and lowest electricity plan for your area is 6-8¢ per kilowatt hour.   For a home that uses 2000 kWh per month, this is $140 per month!   This is $1680 per year you could be over paying.

There is really money to be saved by shopping for electricity.  And, here on VaultElectricity.com, it only takes minutes to find the best plan for you and enroll online or over the phone.

Waller Electricity Comes from Many Energy Sources

Wind power has by far been the fastest growing source of electricity in Waller for some time.  West Texas is the geographically perfect location for installing wind turbines.  Government subsidies where largely responsible for the boom in wind power by encouraged companies to invest in wind.  The state of Texas invested billions of dollars to expand the infrastructure to transport this electricity from west Texas to Waller and other parts of the state that need the power.

Solar energy has contributed less power to the Texas electricity grid than it could with more investment.  Even though the state has the largest solar energy capacity in the country, relatively little investment has been made in utility scale solar projects in Texas to turn that capacity into production.

This is going to be changing in the near future.  The manufacturing costs of photovoltaic cells has gone down while efficiency has slowly improved.  In the five years beginning in 2011 the amount of solar capacity in Texas grew 10 fold.  This growth rate is expected to only accelerate going forward.

Electricity Plan EFL – Is It Important?

When you are comparing plans to find the cheapest electricity rates in Waller, TX, you should always read the Electricity Facts Labels (EFLs).  Every plan sold in Texas has one.  The EFL goes beyond the sales language and gives you the real details about the plan you are considering.  It’s presented in a standardized format that is mandated by the Texas PUC.

Some Texas electricity plans are intentionally designed to be complicated in the way their rates are calculated.  Such complication almost always works against you and in favor of the electric company.  The EFL will clearly list out all of the components included in the formulas that are used to calculate the plans costs.

For the most part, the more complex the plan is, the less likely you are actually achieve the rate they have advertised for the plan.

If there is a wide gap between the price at 2000 kWh and the price at 500 or 1000 kWh be careful of this plan.  Your final electricity rate will be very sensitive to the exact amount of kWhs you use in the billing cycle.  If the price at 2000 kWh is a lot cheaper than the price at 1000 kWh, the plan was probably designed to appear to look cheapest at precisely the 2000 kWh usage level.  Electric companies know a lot of consumers just don’t bother to read the fine print.  If you use less than their target rate in a billing cycle you might find yourself with a higher light bill than you anticipated.
