Lamb County Electric Cooperative

Lamb County Electric Cooperative (LCEC) distributes electricity to six rural counties in the Texas Panhandle.  They have 11,500 electricity meters, of which 7,300 are industrial.  Most of these accounts are feedlots, as this area is the heart of the cattle industry.  LCEC has 3,200 miles of power lines to maintain, and they have 2,365 members.

LCEC is a member of the Touchstone Energy Group, so they have access to good online customer account offerings.  The SmartHub app provides easy access to viewing electric bills and usage information.  Their customers can pay by phone and online.  AutoPay from checking accounts and credit cards is available.  You can even pay with cash via MoneyGram at Walgreens and CVS.

Lamb County EC does not produce the electricity it delivers.  Instead, they buy 100% of their electricity from Golden Spread Electric Cooperative.  Golden Spread has 4 power plants — 3 are natural gas plants, and one is a wind farm.  They sell the power they generate to 16 member electric cooperatives, all of which are in West Texas.
