Why Compare Benbrook Electricity Rates?
When the Texas legislature decided to deregulate the Texas electricity marketplace it was to keep electricity rates low and create an environment of innovation by opening it up to competition.

And you don’t have to worry about reliability of service because all electricity is delivered in the same way.

Sources of Benbrook Electricity Plans
Wind power has been the fastest growing source of electricity in Benbrook for some time. Government subsidies have encouraged companies to invest in wind turbines. The open plains of west Texas are geographically the perfect location for placing wind farms. The state of Texas invested heavily in building out the infrastructure to transport this electricity from west Texas to Benbrook and other parts of the state that need the power.

This is about to change, however. The manufacturing costs of photovoltaic cells has gone down while efficiency has slowly improved. Between 2011 and 2016 the amount of solar capacity in Texas increased by 10 times. This growth rate actually may be accelerating in the near future.

What Are EFLs on the Electricity Plans?
The Electricity Fact Label (EFL) is a document required by the Texas PUC for any electricity plan offered for sale in the Texas retail market. It will show the average electricity rate for the plan at three benchmark levels: 500 kWh, 1000 kWh, and 2000 kWh. If you see a big range between these rates within the same plan, it might be a red flag that your electricity rate with this plan might be unpredictable.
Below the bench rates within the EFL document you will find a listing of the flat fees and per kWh fees that go into calculating the average electricity rate being advertised for this plan. The more complicated this plan is, the less predictable your energy bill is going to be each month.
Don’t be concerned when you see TDU pass through fees. This is a standard feature of all electricity plans sold in Texas. These fees pay for the transmission of electricity to your residence or business and they fund the upkeep of powerlines in the region. Everyone pays the same fees for this. Usually they are listed separately in the EFL.
