What to Do If Your Electricity Plan Is Coming to an End

If you haven’t shopped for a new electricity plan in a while there is a good chance you are currently not in a contract.  If that is the case, most likely, you are paying way more than you should be paying for electricity.  Providers will move customers to month to month plans once their previous plan expires without a new on in place.  These monthly rates are almost always higher than what you would pay if you were in a contract – sometimes substantially.

If you are under a contract at present, you should begin looking for a new plan as early as 60 days before the contract term ends.  Most electric companies will allow you to select a start date that is up to 60 in advance.  This way, if you find a great rate on a new plan, you can lock it in well in advance of the expiration of your current plan.

If you find yourself in a situation where you are not under a contract you need to shop for a plan with a better rate than you are paying.  There is a very good change you can find one.  Your current provider might have a plan that offers better rate than you are currently paying.  But more likely than not, you will find the cheapest rate by switching to a new provider who is eager to win your business.

It’s even more important to plan ahead if your commercial electricity plan is coming due.  In fact, you’ll want to start talking us several months before the expiration date arrives – especially if rates have moved higher.

Denison No Deposit Electricity Plans

Electricity providers run credit checks on people who sign-up for electricity.  As long as the credit check meets their requirements, no deposit is required.

A large percentage of the time, however, they will ask for a sizable deposit.  When this happens, you have a few options you can try.

You can try enrolling with a different electric company.  The credit requirements of each provider can be different.  If one provider asks for a deposit, another provider may offer you a no deposit electricity plan because they have different credit thresholds.  At a minimum, you may find that another provider asks for a smaller deposit.

If you have no luck with these options, you can enroll in a prepaid electricity plan.  Prepaid electricity plans are very popular in Texas.  Usually, you can get your lights on for under $50.  This money is not a deposit.  You are paying for the electricity you use in advance.

Renewable Energy – Green Energy Electricity Plans

Many people may not realize that Texas is a leader in Green Energy.  The state produces more wind energy than any other state and most other countries.  The relatively small Texas solar industry is poised for a takeoff with the state being home to more solar energy potential than any other US state.

It would be impossible to find any Denison electricity plan that doesn’t get at least part of its electricity from renewable energy sources.  Traditionally, renewable energy has been more expensive than other energy sources.  But that gap has now narrowed quite a bit.  Green energy plans are now competitive with traditional plans and often can be found with cheaper electricity rates than non-green plans.
