MP2 Energy Products and Services
MP2 is a subsidiary of Shell Energy North America that operates as an electric company in Texas. The name Shell should be familiar to drivers. They are a well know brand of gas station. MP2 represents their attempt to bridge the gap between the old world of traditional gasoline driven transportation and the electric vehicle revelation.
The electric plans they offer Texas consumers focus on three things:
Renewable Energy Electric Plans
They sell 100% renewable energy plans that utilize Renewable Energy Credits (RECs) to provide grid based renewable energy options.Rooftop Solar
They offer a solar buyback program that combines rooftop solar with battery storage and the option to sell your excess electricity back to the grid. This is a concept know as net metering.Electric Vehicle Charging Programs
This program allows owners of electric vehicles to charge their cars at home for free during certain hours of the day. This takes advantage of the fact that electricity rates in Texas often drop dramatically overnight when wind energy output is high and general demand on the grid is low.MP2 Energy Plans

Electric Vehicles and battery storage will change the way the Texas electricity grid functions
The electricity grid is changing. It used to be that the electricity grid was based on fossil fuels like coal. Now, it is transitioning to one that relies on renewable energy sources like solar and wind.
Subtle changes are already happening with electric vehicles (EV) and battery storage coming onto the scene. More EV drivers are using their cars as a way of storing excess power for later use.
And with the cost of EVs dropping, more people will be able to use them this way.
