Cherokee County Electric Cooperative Association

Cherokee County Electric Cooperative provides electricity to 4 counties in East Texas.

They currently have over 21,000 meters, including 19,500 residential electricity customers.

Because Cherokee County ECA does not generate any of its own electricity, they have to buy it from the Texas electricity grid on the open market.  They then resell it to their customers at a higher rate, generally with a 6% margin.  This is why customers of this electric co-op pay a rate higher than the state average.

Cherokee County ECA also offers fiber optic cable to most of their customers, but you will need to call the electric company to see if it is available at your location.
