HILCO Electric Cooperative

HILCO Electric Cooperative is a large electricity company operating as a non-profit co-op.  HILCO’s service area is in Texas along Interstate 35, between the DFW Metroplex and Waco.  They have over 3,000 miles of power lines, delivering electricity to 30,000 customers.

Like most electric co-ops in Texas, HILCO does not generate any of the electricity it supplies.  Instead, they buy it from Brazos Electric Power Cooperative, then resell it with an added electricity fee to their customers.  While this may sound like an expensive way of doing business, it is the norm in most of the deregulated areas of Texas.

HILCO Electric Co-op is a member of the Touchstone Energy Cooperative group.  Because of this membership, HILCO customers have access to the SmartHub mobile app.  The SmartHub app allows you to monitor and analyze your electric usage from the palm of your hand. The mobile or web-based platform is secure, easy for customers with any level knowledge about power rates in America – even those who don’t know what ” kilowatt hour” means.
