J-A-C Electric Cooperative is an electricity provider that delivers electricity to rural customers in Jack, Archer and Clay Counties in North Texas. With less than 3,000 customers, J-A-C is one of the smallest co-op electric companies in Texas. J-A-C has 5,900 active electric meters and 2,000 miles of power lines.
J-A-C does not have any power plants of their own, so they purchase 100% of the electricity they distribute to their customers. They buy all of their electricity from Brazos Electric Power Cooperative. They then resell it to their customers after adding a surcharge for each kilowatt, which means their electricity rate is higher than those paid by electricity consumers in deregulated areas of Texas.
J-A-C Electric Cooperative is a member of Touchstone Energy Cooperatives, a nationwide network of electric co-ops with over 750 members in 46 states.
