At the same time, if you live in a larger home, you should be comparing rates based on 2000 kWh of average electricity usage – not 1000 kWh or 500 kWh.

As history shows, Lancaster was one of the first settlements in Dallas County. The city was founded in 1852 by “A” Bledsoe. And despite a drought that economically hurt the community for some time during the first years of Reconstruction, Lancaster picked itself up from its bootstraps and started developing commercially. This was done more easily when the Missouri-Kansas-Texas Railroad (MKT) train depot opened up in town in 1888. After that, the community stabilized a little more, gaining more citizens.
The economy currently is driven by the following enterprises: the Lancaster ISD, Walmart, BrassCraft Manufacturing, Oak Creek Homes, Cedar Valley College, City of Lancaster, and Swift Transportation to name some of the top employers in the local economy of Lancaster.
