If You Don’t Compare Electricity Rates, You Are Overpaying
If you haven’t looked at rates for other electricity providers recently, you are almost certainly overpaying. With well over a dozen reputable electricity providers offering service in Cedar Hill, the chances that your current provider is offering you the lowest rate available are low.
Competition puts downward pressure on prices in any market. The Texas electricity market is no different. Texas electricity rates change a lot. Providers are constantly trying to outmaneuver one another for position at the top of our list of the cheapest rates. The plans they offer are mostly 12 month plans. But plans are available for contract lengths between 3 months and 36 months.
Once the term of your plan ends, your provider will usually offer to put you on another 12 month plan. The rate on this 12 month plan may be the lowest rate available by any provider. But it’s not likely to be. That’s why you should compare this offer to other offers currently listed on Vault Electricity and choose the plan that works for you.
If you decided not to sign up for a new plan with your current provider, they will be happy to keep you on with month to month pricing. This is a mistake. You will almost surely be paying more than you should.

Tips to Compare Electricity Rates in Cedar Hill
When you compare Cedar Hill electricity rates for different energy plans, you must make sure that you are looking at the rates for the usage level corresponding to the size of your home and your average electricity usage.
Standard usage levels for electricity plan pricing in Texas are:
500 kWh – Representing and average apartment
1000 kWh – Representing a small home
2000 kWh – Representing a larger home
The pricing formula of electricity plans can often result in widely different average electricity rates for these 3 levels. If, for example, you live in an apartment and you are comparing rates based on the 2000 kWh usage rates, you are not looking at rates that you are likely to achieve in the real world.
The good news is, we have the tools to ensure you are doing a proper comparison. When comparing rates on our website, make sure you have the usage level (found above the plans display) is set properly. By default you will see the 2000 kWh rates. If you have a smaller home you will want to change the setting to 500 or 1000 kWhs.
