True Power Products and Services
True Power has recently been at or near the top of the Power To Choose list with the cheapest advertised electricity rates with a plan called True Value 3.
Like many of the plans that appear among the cheapest listed, there are two important points to note.
1 – The rate being offered for the True Value 3 plan is for New Customers only
2 – The plan is only a 3-month plan. After the plan is over you will have to enroll in a new plan or go to a month-to-month plan which almost always has higher rates.
These factors put together mean the rate listed should really be considered an introductory rate.
At the time of this writing, the True Value 3 plan is listed at a rate of 10.9¢ per kWh at 1000 kWh in the Houston Area (Centerpoint). When the 3 months are over, you would have to switch to a new plan. Their 9-month plan is currently priced at 16.1¢. True Power Company Background
True Power is one of the smaller Texas electric companies. They are a woman owned business that was certified with the Texas PUC in 2021. The founders had an extensive background in the Texas electricity market having worked previously for Gexa Energy and Just Energy. They are also authorized to do business under the name True Prepaid.
Service
True Power is not the most affordable light company. They seek to differentiate themselves by offering personalized service. They offer a relatively small selection of plans including renewable energy plans. The company sells both residential and commercial electricity.
